The Platinum FC girls 11 team lead by Head Coach Shan Park traveled to play the Las Vegas Winter Classic held over the Martin Luther King holiday weekend after having a great league season. The team went with high hope of bringing home a championship.

The first game was held Saturday night in the cold Las Vegas air and they came out on top with a victory on a goal from Beline Lopez. The second game was played Sunday morning in a little warmer weather where the team came out and play some great soccer and earned a great win putting them at the top of the bracket with one game left in pool play.

The last game of pool play was a cold and windy one where the girl felt right at home playing in and played some of the best possession soccer of the tournament, and came out with a 12-0 win to put them as the first place team out of the pool play.

Going into the semi-final the team had some injuries and sickness to deal with and the weather was brisk. Despite these obstacles the girls came out with a 2-0 victory and the chance to play on the finals. Throughout the tournament the team had some great play from their goalkeepers and defense who up to that point had given up just 1 goal.

In the finals Platinum would go up against their strongest competition in the tournament Sherman Oaks Extreme, a team that like Platinum had given up just 1 goal in tournament play.

The game was fast paced and back and forth until early in the second half of play Olivia Rodriguez played a great ball to Hanna Moffatt to put Platinum up 1-0. With the action going at a blistering pace Sherman Oaks got a PK and missed. About 5 min. later Sherman Oaks got on the board to tie the game at 1-1, with 5 min left Platinum got a PK and Hanna Moffatt who was in the goal came up and put it away for what would be the game winner.

At the end of the day Platinum had scored 21 goals and allowed 2 and come away with the championship trophy.
